What IS The Alph Hypertext System Project, Anyway?

ALPH is a free-software project to explore the creation of a xanalogical hypertext system on the Web, made from established Web technologies and standards (to the greatest extent possible).

It has two software components, the DOCUPLEXTRON – a graphical browser/editor, and Alph.py – the server.

To make it all work, there are also some specifications for custom HTML elements, a set of fragment selectors, and a small Linked Data vocabulary.

Information about all of these system components should be discoverable from the Alph site's front page.

On a more personal note:

My little project is more of a research platform and proof-of-concept than a piece of production code. If you want to check it out, I'm delighted! If you want to collaborate on it ... ehhh ... we can try? I'm a cartoonist/illustrator by trade, so I've never collaboratively coded on anything before – but I'm willing to learn!

And, of course, this being a free software project, if you want to spin this off into your own thing, be my guest. In fact, in a perfect world, some talented crew of hackers would come along and go, oh, that's great, but we can make it much faster, more stable, more secure, easier to use, and create a community of developers to keep it evolving into the future! And then I could just be a user! That would be amazing.
